Clean Rivers.

Rivers clean, the name says it all because just like oceans, rivers are also full
of waste and that waste usually ends up in the oceans. That is why it is
important not to forget about the rivers, especially because it is less
represented in the media. We have seen with our own eyes how much waste

accumulates annually when water levels change significantly.
To address this, we have had a lot of contact with people and fishermen from the region, it is also a thorn in their eye. The fishermen would like to actively contribute to solving the problem, but since
the income of many fishermen fluctuates around the poverty line, they do not have the means to do so now.
With this project, we work on both. How you say? By providing the boats of local fishermen with a cleaning system with which they can clean the rivers bit by bit. If we give them a compensation equal to the volunteer compensation in the Netherlands, it is often more than a doubling of income for them. In addition, we hope that the clean-up will be contagious to the local

population. We know from practice that when it is tidy, people keep it tidy.
The visibility during the pilot phase is mainly achieved by the waste that is collected.
For the rivers clean project, we will develop a system in collaboration with local fishermen in Bosnia and maritime education centers, that can be used on local fishing boats. This model boat can be seen in many places around the world, making it easily scalable.
One important point during development will be that the system must be easy
to remove from the boat and of course easy to reattach, so that the boat can
still be used for fishing. In addition, the advantage of this is that you only need one system but can work with multiple fishermen and clean more hours on the water.
